Blushing at the drop of a hat with no rhyme or reason is a unique situation which is very common to many people. Blushing affects the blood vessels in the face which get dilated due to a rush of adrenaline. In a social situation, any faux pas committed by us may result in our blushing out of embarrassment or it may be in response to a compliment or it may even occur due to anxiety or nervousness. This may be annoying but is quite normal.
Some people though blush more often than others even while in perfectly normal situations. This is when facial blushing becomes problematic as it can affect everything from social interactions to job interviews. Although no permanent cure for facial blushing has yet been recorded, there are a few tips and techniques which may come in handy.
Firstly, before embarking on any treatment, you must rule out any medical reasons as sometimes excessive blushing can be due to a drug reaction or may be a fall out of some allergy.
Alcohol, spicy food, hot drinks, caffeine also aggravate blushing so avoiding such things may be a cure for facial blushing.
Some prescription medicines have been found to help in controlling excessive blushing. These may be topical creams to be applied on the skin where they help in clamping down the inflammatory response of the blood vessels or oral medicines may also be prescribed.
Some people are afraid of public speaking or of communicating with certain people and when they have to deal with such situations, they suffer from uncontrolled blushing. Trying out relaxation techniques like meditation or deep breathing may be a cure for facial blushing. These techniques may not cure facial blushing instantly but they will go a long way in helping you train your mind and keep your nerves calm which is half the battle won in most such cases.
But, when unwarranted blushing leads to a point where you are beginning to get psychologically affected like in, social interactions or work place communications are becoming a torture for you then perhaps, hypnosis may be a way out. Although hypnotism may have negative connotations for some people it has shown positive results in alleviating the psychological root of too much blushing.
Uncontrolled blushing has its roots in the subconscious mind and a trained hypnotist can help you overcome your fears and anxiety and other negative thoughts. You can also try self-hypnosis to control blushing. Hypnosis tapes are available which train your mind to focus on positive thoughts and reject negative thoughts.
Surgery is also done to cure facial blushing and in this the nerves affecting the veins of the face are snipped off. But surgery is not without its complications and should only be considered for extreme situations and absolutely as a last resort.
However desperately you may be searching for that perfect cure for facial blushing, remember that this annoying problem is definitely not worth taking a chance with your health and it is better to learn to live with it rather than put your health to unnecessary risk.
