There are two ways in which the thyroid gland malfunctions. It at times produces less hormones which is called hypothyroidism while over production of hormones is termed hyperthyroidism. Both of these can create a very many skeletal muscle related and joint problems. Hypothyroidism leads to muscle cramps and joint weakness in general. Other symptoms are the stiffness of the joints, Tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel and Tarsal Tunnel Syndromes. These bring great pain at the bottom of the feet. Even the arch of the feet can turn painful and this will make it difficult for you to walk. If you are suffering from hyperthyroidism the symptoms are difficulty in lifting the arms, gripping objects properly and trouble in climbing the stairs.

Some very common symptoms of thyroid problems is obesity, change in the voice quality, swelling of the neck and hair loss. These are apparent and so the treatment should not be delayed. There are other times when the thyroid gland inefficiency is not was easily detected. In such case the aggravation of the problem is seen in the bulging of the eyes and the formation of goiter. The rapid weight loss could also result due to this. To keep the thyroid problem well under control keep a close watch on all the functions of the body and also watch out for any physical deformation.

The skin and hair are the best indicators of the presence of thyroid problem in the body. If you are a patient of hypothyroidism then hair fall will be a regular problem. The quality of your hair too will deteriorate and become brittle. Even the outer edges of the eyebrows will gradually fade. Other symptoms of thyroid problems are the changes in the skin that will take place as soon as the thyroid gland malfunctions. It will turn scaly and rough. Wrinkles will form fast and discoloration may also result on account of this.

Hypothyroidism is clearly indicated by severe constipation trouble. It will be a prolonged problem if not treated on time. Hyperthyroidism will create irritability when clearing bowels. Moreover, it results in an upset stomach most of the time. The menstrual regularity is also disturbed by thyroid problems. In case of hypothyroidism the flow is heavier and painful while on the hand the below normal flow and irregularity are symptoms of hyperthyroidism. If these symptoms of thyroid problems go undetected for a long time, then it can even lead to infertility.
